Makeup FX and creature FX and Hollywood film making
Hollywood film director, writer and two time Emmy award winning makeup FX artist Dean Jones will demonstrate makeup FX,, lecture on writing, and directing Hollywood movies, show case an assortment of Hollywood Props and memorabilia from his career.
Los Angeles California resident, Dean C. Jones, a North Carolina native has over thirty years of experience in film and television. In 1985, Jones was first discovered and hired by acclaimed film director David Lynch to create the makeup effects for the cult classic “Blue Velvet”. Jones has since been a part of over hundred feature films and television projects. Dean’s inspiration comes from his own artistic and entrepreneurial vision and by the many award-winning directors he has worked with over the years. Jones has won two Emmy awards along with six nominations while working on “Star Trek – Deep Space Nine”. Jones is a graduate from UNC Greensboro with a BFA in acting and directing and was an LAPD police officer, Pacific Division and Vice Squad officer, Newton Division from 1991 to 1993. Jones stays true to his roots produces and directs the annual haunted attraction “The Hollywood Horror Show” which still remains one of the largest haunted attractions in the United States. Now a member of the Directors Guild of America he has began directing movies. Dean’s latest feature titled “DARK AWAKENING” was shot in North Carolina. It premiered at the prestigious Cannes Film Market during the Cannes Film Festival in May 2014 by producer Michele Weisler and Robbie Little of the The Little Film Company. “DARK AWAKENING” has since received a theatrical release and in 2016 was released nationwide to retail chains DVD outlets, and Showtime cable network. Meanwhile, Jones has been developing a slate of films to be produced in the near future. These films will be helmed by Hollywood producer, Michele Weisler (Stir of Echoes, Soul Survivors, The Ring, The Ring 2) with the intent to develop and produce projects to shoot entirely in North Carolina.
